A son and father eat breakfast and learn about working-class and labour history together.
For the last year and a half or so, we (Pelle and Daniel) have been reading and talking about Working Class History: Everyday Acts of Resistance & Rebellion (PM Press, 2020) together over breakfast. The book is organised as an almanac, with two entries of historical working-class significance for each day of the year. We typically start by one of us reading out the entries for that particular day and then asking each other questions and thinking about what those events mean to us today. We’re often unfamiliar with the event or with the context, but we almost always end the conversation feeling a little bit wiser, a little better informed.
The conversations will be in a mix of English and Norwegian, so we’ll be recording the audio and then making a simple captioned video with subtitles in English. Each episode will last between 5 and 10 minutes.
