Smash the Class, Episode 3: A Discussion on Especifismo (and More) with Carl Eugene Stroud

Leading up to the School Revolt, we had the pleasure to have a conversation with Carl Eugene Stroud. He’s an online tutor of French, Spanish, and English to students of different ages across the world. Previously, he’d contacted us to share a few different pieces about especifismo. Those pieces were the basis for our conversation.

Some of the topics that we discuss include (but aren’t limited to) digital pedagogies and learning spaces, the connection of study groups to praxis, defending the learning space, and especifismo. This conversation was awesome, so we’re really happy to share it with you!

If you want to talk with us, please send us an email or contact us on our social media.

And finally, some of the things that are mentioned in this episode that you might want to go check out:

Smash the Class, Episode 2: An APN Conversation

APN turns one this year! And in the name of celebration, we wanted to sit down and have a little reflection about how APN started and what we hope happens in the next year.

In this episode, Nicole sat down and talked with both Daniel and Sonia. There was so much that they all discussed that it’s hard to know where to start. From the inspiration and impetus to start the network, how COVID has played a part in building learning and activist communities, to the need for unlearning harmful beliefs in our own spaces in order to contribute to liberatory movements… we covered a lot of ground in what feels like a short time.

This conversation was such a delight, and it really helps to shine a light on a lot of what we try to do in the development of this digital community. We’re really excited to share it with you!

Oh, and if you’re interested in joining us or working with us, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

(Also mentioned in the episode was a fellow collective, Gata Negra. They’re also an awesome project, so go check them out!)

Smash the Class, Episode 1: Homeschooling with Saint Andrewism

We’re happy to introduce a new project that we’re working in the APN! This is the first episode of Smash the Class, a podcast that seeks to explore and discuss different methods that could help us all re-think, dismantle, and re-build our learning spaces for the benefit of all people.

In our first episode, we spoke with Andrew about homeschooling. It was awesome to hear a first-person perspective on how it could be used to foster learning spaces and help build communities. We also discussed how it could work with other areas of praxis. This conversation is also an extension of his Homeschooling video, which is definitely recommended.

You can also go check out other topics on his YouTube channel, Saint Andrewism.

Enjoy and look out for more!
